CFS MINISTER CONCERNED ABOUT MISMANAGEMENT OF FUNDS
Preliminary results from a federal/provincial investigation of a northern child welfare agency launched last year show there has been a mismanagement of funds. The findings show the Cree Nation Child and Family Caring Agency has been giving thousands of dollars to the Swampy Cree Tribal Council for unjustified services.  The review says the organization's board approved a 30 thousand dollar van for its executive director and the document describes the board's related expenditures as unacceptable. Manitoba Family Services Minister Gord Mackintosh is concerned about the allegations that he says appear to be substantiated.  Mackintosh says he is eager to see the final report which will include responses from the agency as well as the action plan for change. Mackintosh says the full report is expected in a number of weeks.

The latest group of Winnipeg Police Service recruits is graduating Friday. The 47 graduates will be recognized at a  ceremony  at 1:00 pm at the Winnipeg Convention Centre.

MOTORCYCLIST STILL CRITICAL
A 40 year old motorcyclist remains in critical condition at hospital following an accident late Wednesday night  at Saint James street and Dublin avenue.. Police say a motorbike travelling east on Dublin   collided with a vehicle turning onto Saint James,   around 10:30pm..   The driver of the vehicle was not injured.Meantime,    a  30 year old man is in stable condition at hospital after being stabbed around 11:30pm  Wednesday in the area of Sargent avenue and Young street..Police say the  victim   was stabbed three times in the upper body..

N.S. fishermen continue blockade of N.B. boats in crab fishery dispute

INVERNESS, N.S. - A harbour blockade remained in place in the tiny fishing community of Inverness, N.S., Friday as angry fishermen continued to demand a share of the local crab quota.
